IT Support Technician

Our Client, the market leader in Cloud software in Education, is recruiting a Internal IT Support Technician, a newly created role, due to the growth of their business.

This is an exciting role with huge opportunity for career development and would suit someone with 1-3 years tech experience, who wants to develop, a keen learner who is happy to get stuck in, and also works well in a team.

Our client are flexible employer and whilst this is a full time role, are happy to consider different working patterns for example with later or earlier start or finish times as well as occasional home working.

Salary is £20,000 to £25,000 depending on experience.

About the role

This internally focused tech role, is being created to provide Internal IT support to staff and also second line Operational IT support to customers (via the Client Support team). You will be joining the technical services team, reporting to the DevOps lead and the Head of Technical Services.

There are a number of tasks, you will be responsible for, you don’t have to be an expert in these now, but if you have an understanding and a desire to become an expert, then we want to hear from you;

Operational tasks such as:

  • configuring access to applications for new customers
  • configuring applications to customer requirements
  • performing copies for customer testing purposes
  • maintaining secure access systems
  • implementing single sign on systems
  • enabling API endpoints for customers
  • configuring custom URLs for customers
  • supporting general inquiries relating to products

Internal support tasks required by internal office staff such as:

  • providing general IT support and maintenance to internal and external staff
  • installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
  • monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
  • troubleshooting system and network problems and faults, diagnosing and solving them
  • maintaining Asset and Licensing register

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with one to three years experience in a Tech role, you should be able to tinker with a laptop and work out how to fix basic issues, and tick most of the 'requiredskills’ below.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • previous experience working with and supporting IT systems, networks and infrastructure
  • a demonstrable, good level of knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems, including using the command line (terminal) on Linux desktops and servers
  • a demonstrable, good level of knowledge of network topology and configuration including TCP/IP, routing and ports
  • ability to work and perform in a pressured environment
  • good numerical skills
  • organised, works to and meets deadlines
  • good attention to detail
  • good troubleshooting and diagnosing skills
  • ability to remain calm under pressure
  • ability to work with people at all levels, and an excellent team member
