VAT Senior accountant / adviser

Our client is looking for a VAT Senior accountant / adviser to join their busy accounting and advisory team in their friendly Bristol or Taunton offices. This is a great opportunity to join a smaller and more personal firm of Chartered Accountants and Tax Advisors in the South West, which is founded on a culture of a personal service.

They have a firm-wide flexible working framework that incorporates flexitime - staff work 10-4 in the office, with the remainder flexed in location and schedule as they require. In addition, they are offering this role on a 4 or 5 day per week basis (if 5 days then 1 day can be from home). They are based in central Bristol in newly refurbished offices, with a friendly office environment with an open door policy where you can really contribute to ideas and success. They are very dedicated to staff development and you can expect all of the support and training you need to progress your career.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified or almost qualified accountant or adviser with a minimum 2 years in practice (within the last 2 years) or with HMRC. This is also a good opportunity for someone returning to work, providing their gap has not been longer than two years.

About the Role

The job will provide a varied portfolio of work with a wide range of client across multiple industries. You should expect to:

  • Assume responsibility and take leadership of assignments

  • Manage external relationships with clients and internal relationships from junior members of staff through to partners

  • Provide on going support and training to junior members of staff

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CTA qualified, part qualified (or equivalent)

  • VAT specific experience
  • A minimum of 2 years experience within a practice environment or with HRMC

  • Excellent IT skills

Salary £32,000-£38,000 dependant on experience
3.5% matched contribution pension plan
22 days holiday rising to 27 days with service
